Coast to Coast AM Thursday night

Just a quick note for now: I will be on the wildly popular late-night radio show Coast to Coast AM with George Noory Thursday night, from 11:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Pacific time (7:00 - 10:00 a.m. Universal Time). We just got this set up, so I don’t have a list of topics, but I’m sure we’ll talk about my upcoming book, the past year in astronomy news, and other cool stuff (maybe even the Star of Bethlehem). I’ll be posting more about this when it’s nailed down, and I’ll be putting up a page on the main site with topics and links as well.

Wait. “Coast to Coast AM?” Isn’t that the show that has Richard Hoaglund on all the time and talks about aliens and UFO’s and ghosts and paranormal BS?

Phil, if I were you, I’d prepare myself for a not-so-warm reception. Just saying… I mean everyone here likes you and all, but there you may find youself a stranger in a hostile land.

  2. The Bad Astronomer Says:

That’s the one. However, I’ve been on many times before, and I always get a nice reception. I like George; he’s very nice, and we get along fine.

Phil, got your “Lucifer Project” notes handy? Methinks you’re gonna need ‘em…

  4. Michael Lonergan Says:

Does Georgy Noory really, really believe half of that stuff? I got the impression Art Bell really didn’t buy it, but always just egged people on. Have fun. I’m not sure if we get it here in Squamish. The stations are hard to pick up from Vancouver.

Say hello to the “shadow people” for us. That is definitely the funniest radio show on the air at 2 in the morning.

Is there any way to listen to it online?

I sometimes listen to coast to coast as i go to sleep. about 6-8 times a year they actually have on a real scientist like Phil(mind you, they are on 365days a year) that show is a huge platform for richard hogeland, Rupert Sheldrake and the like……even the discovery institute was on a while back. If the measure is giving your audience what they want……george is brilliant. i don;t think he believes most of the stuff he broadcasts.
This is a show that had a serious discussion about Russian miners lowering a microphone into hell and recording people…..LOL

  8. Mike R. Says:

Can you post a link to a stream of your part of the show here tomorrow? I’d love to listen too.

  9. Sergeant Zim Says:

I used to work a 2nd shift job, and C-to-C was about the only thing on the radio while I was driving home (about 35 miles).

I used to think it was a comedy program, on the order of Benny Hinn - oops, I mean Benny HILL, only less intelligent, then I realized that Noory really does believe most of the stuff he and his guests discuss, and that’s a truly terrifying realization.

  10. Michael Lonergan Says:

LOL… Lowering a mic into hell. When I went to a Christian college in Edmonton back in the ’90’s that hoax came out. I was listening to a show on late night radio, and the guy was saying he had the actual tape recordings of it, just send him a hundred bucks! Who was it? None other than the infamous Peter Popoff! Are you going to be in George’s bat(ty) cave?

Well, there have been a few times that it sounded to me as if he was doing all he could not to laugh. Whether he believes it or not, it’s part of the gig, I think, to make the guest feel comfortable enough to spout whatever it is they came there to spout.

If I’m awake I’ll be tuning in to hear at least part of Phil’s appearance. It’s always interesting to listen to people that actually know some science respond to the wacky questions from callers. :)

That’s why it’s such a fun show if you treat it like science fiction theater. I fall asleep to it every night.

The C2C site used to have a live feed last I checked. If not, just hit the web site of one of the affiliate stations. I listen to all sorts of shows around the country that way. I’m in Southern California, but listen to the Phil Hendrie show via a Phoenix radio station’s web site. Welcome to the 21st century.

  13. Joel Says:

Like Phil, George is a great host and gives all his guests fair interviews. Phil, in case you don’t listen to C2C that often, he mentions you and the Bad Astronomy site occasionally and it always seems to be in a positive light.

  14. Passing_through Says:

C2C can be heard online at http://www.kfi640.com/ an LA AM station with online feeds.

  15. Paul Bishop Says:

I loved the Thursday show and appreciate the work that both the host and guest put forward to bring such an excellent show. It’s about time that some of the better ghosthunters in the south receive some recognition. From what I have seen and heard Hunnicut is one of the most responsible and serious ghost researchers in Georgia and probably the south.

As for the rest of you people, if you don’t believe in the paranormal and all of its facets, why do you listen? George Noory and Art Bell may have allowed some of the really strange on the show, but some have been some of the pioneers and we’re lucky to have heard them.

    Grow up already!
