Phoenix launch delayed

Posted at 12:52 pm in NASA

The Phoenix mission to Mars was due to launch on Friday, but nasty weather in Florida has postponed it. The earliest it will launch is Saturday; check the Phoenix site for details.

That’s all well and good, but what about the status of Mars’ mission to Phoenix?

Well, I know one thing that arrived on time. My DVD copy of Roving Mars

    More Barsoomian stuff the better.

I saw both the Phoenix and Dawn satellites (Okay, they were faired in the Delta IIs) in Kennedy last month, with thunderheads rolling in behind them, and both have now been delayed from weather. I’ll repeat what I said about Dawn: Kind of a sucky place to shoot off rockets, really.
