Skepdudes — that means me, too — on YouTube
What with James Randi’s The Amaz!ng Meeting coming up next week, now is a good time to plug the Skepchick and Skepdude calendars again. I have both, and they’re pretty cool.
Rebecca, who is the force behind all this, has even uploaded a vid of the ‘chicks calendars to YouTube (probably NSFW) for your previewing pleasure.
Someone else uploaded the same thing for the ‘dudes. I initially hesitated to link to it, but what the heck. It’s Friday, and I’m in a good mood. So here you go, the Skepdudes calendar in video form (yeah, again, probably NSFW). See if you can spot the astronomer in there.

Phil, you dastardly dog! Nice pic. Traumatized my son.
That pic is firetrucking hilarious.
“It’s not the size of the equipment…Its the aperture.”
You just raised yourself to a whole new level of respect fom this guy!
Yep, it’s all about diameter, folks. Yow.
Wow. That’s an impressive piece of equipment, Phil.
Phil,
It’s always good to give equal time to those of us who appreciate skepdudes in all their…ah… glory.
Gah. At least the guys got a decent song.
Hmm… Looks like that’s 12 inches, at least…
Impressive. I’m sure all the chicks dig your Dobsonian.
12.5 Magista.
Tukla, both songs are by the awesome skepdude, George Hrab.
My 150mm dob leaves me feeling inadequate - nicely posed, Phil!
What a great picture, I actually laughed out loud. And people say scientists have no sense of humor…
BA means “Big Astronomer”… apparently…
Wow! What an impressive,,,telescope,,,
I used to have one that large.Yeah, in my DREAMS!
I guess what they say is true,,,wider IS better!

GROAN! Why did that pose not surprise me.
Though that is a good demonstration of why most astronomers succumb to “size envy” for telescopes. Hey, it’s not just size, it’s also location and performance that counts, too.
When I was in grad school and taking an observational astronomy class, I used to enjoy watching my (mostly male, natch) classmates point the telescope. There is something undeniably manly about it — though I’m happy to say this never deterred me as a woman from pursuing astronomy.
Funnily enough, when I later worked at an observatory, I heard one of the instrument maintenance guys affectionately refer to the telescope as “she”, like a ship. I thought that was cute.
Is anyone else having trouble seeing the entire video? I am, and I wanna see some BA. Any suggestions?
